(SHP) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings, and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children. Through its life-saving evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP educates and empowers youth and adults to recognize, intervene, and get help for individuals who may be socially isolated and/or at risk of hurting themselves or others. SHP is a moderate, bipartisan organization that supports sensible policy solutions that address the human side of gun violence and make schools safer.


SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

About the Role
The Associate Director, Peer-to-Peer will be instrumental in creating, executing, and managing peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns that motivate individual supporters to contribute to Sandy Hook Promise, while also broadening the organization’s donor base. They will collaborate closely with Marketing, Engagement and Development to ensure the success of fundraising and awareness-building. 

This role involves creating engaging online campaigns, recruiting and supporting fundraisers, and ensuring the achievement of fundraising goals through community-driven efforts. This role will collaborate closely across marketing, development, engagement, and finance departments to ensure successful events and smooth internal processes to track all peer-to-peer driven revenue.  The Peer-to-Peer Associate Director will report to the Associate Vice President, Digital. 


Location
We are a U.S.- based organization with most of our staff working remotely. This role will require up to 20% travel on an as needed basis. This role will also require attending some of the race events. 

Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
  • Create a comprehensive strategic plan for peer-to-peer fundraising, incorporating diverse revenue streams (events, campaigns, etc.) aligning fundraising efforts with SHP’s mission and growth objectives. 
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of volunteers and vendors, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, growth, and innovation in fundraising activities. 
  • Oversee the negotiation and management of contracts with event partners, such as marathon teams for endurance events, vendors, coaches, and other relevant partners. 
  • Champion and streamline internal processes to maximize fundraising revenue while reducing inefficiencies. 
  • Oversee the onboarding process for event participants and donors, ensuring they are integrated into the broader organizational community. 
  • Develop and execute strategies to recruit volunteers from diverse community groups, schools, universities, and other local organizations. 
  • Collaborate with the Corporate team to identify opportunities for employee engagement and corporate partnerships in peer-to-peer fundraising efforts. 
  • Plan, manage, and execute participation in fundraising events, including community walks, marathons, concerts, virtual events, and other fundraising activities. 
  • Prepare detailed budgets for peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, establishing clear ROI projections and revenue targets. 
  • Work closely with the finance team to track, analyze, and report on fundraising results, ensuring proper attribution of funds raised and accurate financial reporting. 
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to collect, craft, and share compelling stories from event participants to inspire awareness, fundraising, and engagement. 
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, ensuring that participants have a seamless experience when setting up campaigns and collecting donations. 
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and functionality of platforms with other systems and tools. 
  • Work and collaborate with teammates from across the organization as necessary. 
  • Have a basic understanding of data literacy and willingness to use and refer to data. 
  • Other duties as identified given organizational needs. 
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with at least 3-5 years focused on peer-to-peer fundraising programs. 
  • Experience with event planning and management for large-scale fundraising events, serving in front-of-house roles that work directly with event participants and fundraisers (virtual and in-person). 
  • Proficient in using data analytics tools to measure and optimize fundraising performance, with extensive experience in digital fundraising strategies and tools, including social media advertising, email marketing, and influencer outreach. 
  • Skilled in utilizing technology and tracking tools to manage progress, relationships, and donor engagement.  
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint) and familiar with EveryAction, Classy, BlackBaud and other peer-to-peer fundraising tools for donor management and reporting. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to engage and motivate individuals to participate in fundraising campaigns with a service mentality in working with donors and event participants 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, with the ability to delegate, inspire, offer constructive feedback, and demonstrate empathy. Excellent time management, prioritization, and reliability.

Benefits and Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000.
(SHP follows a strict internal rubric to help guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay amongst new hires and current staff. New hires should expect to be brought on at the start of the range, except in extenuating circumstances.)

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly Wi-Fi reimbursement up to $40, and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
