About Sandy Hook Promise  

Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings, and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children. Through its life-saving evidence-informed Know the Signs prevention programs, SHP educates and empowers youth and adults to recognize, intervene, and get help for individuals who may be socially isolated and/or at risk of hurting themselves or others. SHP is a moderate, bipartisan organization that supports sensible policy solutions that address the human side of gun violence and make schools safer.  

SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

About the Role 

The Manager of State and Community Partnerships (SCP) will oversee the daily implementation of assigned learning projects. They will support district and school staff, and other partners, by sharing information, offering guidance, and ensuring successful program implementation. They will help plan events, coordinate logistics for Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) programming, and track project activities. The Manager will collaborate with SCP Leadership to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and ensure progress towards SHP goals. They may also assist with research as needed. 

The Manager of State and Community Partnerships will report to the Director of State and Community Partnerships. 
 

Location 

We are a U.S. based organization and most of our staff work remotely. This role will require minimal travel (<15%) on an as needed basis. 
 

Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Project Coordination and Management 
    • Track and manage the completion of deliverables for State and Community Partnerships Learning Projects. 
    • With support from the Director and Associate Director, oversee the daily operations of active projects and assign tasks to ensure smooth execution. 
    • Help partners register for SAVE Promise Clubs before training or ensure they understand the program when registration isn't required. 
    • Work with partners to schedule training based on SHP Implementation team SOPs or as agreed with the Director of Implementation. 
    • Communicate project needs and timelines to the internal team. 
    • Identify project risks and challenges, and work with the team to find solutions. 
    • Ensure all partnership and project documents, presentations, and reports are properly stored and organized. 
    • Assist in creating and sharing presentations, reports, and updates for both internal and external purposes. 
    • Manage the internal calendar for State and Community Partnerships. 
  • Stakeholder Management 
    • Set up systems for clear and consistent communication with external partners to keep them informed about program activities and address their needs. 
    • Provide support to partners by answering questions, sharing relevant information and resources, and regularly checking in. 
    • Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director, SCP, to ensure internal teams and SHP leadership understand the department’s goals and partner needs. 
    • Coordinate scheduling with cross-functional teams for internal project planning. 
    • Establish communication systems with internal partners to align project activities and ensure awareness of milestones. 
    • Collaborate with teams such as Implementation, Curriculum & Content, Partner Success, Business Development, Research, SS-ARS, Tech, and SAVE to achieve department goals. 
  • Data and Reporting 
    • Manage tracking and reporting of implementation and impact metrics for Learning Projects, including partner information, training data, partner feedback, and impact stories. 
    • Prepare and share data as needed. 
    • Work with the Director, SCP, to gather data supporting the Grants and Marketing & Communications teams. 
  • Department Support 
    • Conduct research to identify partnership opportunities and gain a comprehensive understanding of target areas and populations. 
    • Assist with the department’s administrative tasks as needed. 
    • Take on additional duties based on team and organizational needs. 


Qualifications

  • Experience managing or supporting large-scale county, regional, or statewide projects. 
  • Strong project management skills: able to follow protocols, create work plans, and track progress using technology like spreadsheets. 
  • Excellent relationship management and partnership-building skills, with the ability to follow up effectively and act with urgency in outreach efforts. 
  • Clear and concise communicator, able to keep partners and team members updated on progress, challenges, and needs; comfortable with public speaking. 
  • Self-starter with a solutions-focused mindset, highly detail-oriented, and strong organizational skills; able to adapt to an ever-changing and growing organization.  
  • Skilled in CRM tools like Salesforce and project management platforms like Monday. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), remote tools like Teams and Zoom, and open to learning new systems. 
  • Committed to valuing diversity, having discussions about racism and equity, and working across different cultures and communities. 


Benefits and Salary Range  

The starting salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 (New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary closer to the start/middle of the range depending on qualifications and internal equity.)

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly Wi-Fi reimbursement up to $40, and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
